Once again, England simply could not find a way to consistently break down this incredible Aussie defence in the second Test as the tourists triumphed 4-14 on Merseyside. Whilst the margin of defeat was similar with the English backline having tightened up significantly, Shaun Wane’s men scored less than they did in the first Test, accumulating just ten points over the course of this Ashes series so far.

There’s little reason to think much will change in this last game. Australia may have the series wrapped up but the opportunity to make a statement and sweep England on their own soil is something they won’t want to pass up. Winger Joe Burgess playing his first game of international rugby for ten years may give the hosts a boost offensively, but it is unlikely to be enough against this incredible group of Aussie players.
