Emma Raducanu vs Naomi Osaka prediction

Emma Raducanu began her American hard court swing with a straight sets win over out-of-form Marta Kostyuk. She came back from 3-1 down in the first set to take it on a tiebreak but squandered a 3-0 lead in the second as Kostyuk levelled it up at 4-4. Nevertheless, Raducanu broke the Ukrainian’s serve at 5-4 up to seal the win.

She will now face Naomi Osaka after she defeated Yulia Putintseva in the first-round. Putintseva served for the second set to level up the encounter, but Osaka broke and won the next two service games to win 6-2 7-5. It was decent performance from the four-time Grand Slam champion, but she will need an improved serving performance in the next round, only managing a first serve percentage of 42%, though still won 88% of those points.

Raducanu is performing well at the moment and will fancy her chances of a win against a fellow major champion, but Osaka is a strong competitor on hard court and has the ability to overwhelm the Briton. This could very easily go to a third set, with no clear favourite.

Emma Raducanu vs Naomi Osaka tip: Both players to win a set
