Emilio Nava vs Sebastian Baez prediction
Emilio Nava began his season in the qualifying stages of the Hong Kong Open. He won his first match against Kai Thompson but was still unable to make it through to the main draw after a straight sets loss to Laslo Djere. The American fared better here however, coming from a set down to defeat Jan-Lennard Struff and make his first ATP main draw event of the year in Auckland. He is at his highest ranking of 88 in the world. 2025 was a breakthrough year for Nava, as he reached his first ATP quarter-final and won a number of Challenger titles.
Sebastian Baez is his first-round opponent. The Argentine struggled for much of last season after a strong South American clay court swing at the start of the campaign. However, he began this season in encouraging fashion at the United Cup, winning all three of his matches against Jaume Munar, Taylor Fritz and Stan Wawrinka.
Baez will take huge confidence from those victories and will hope for a fourth win in a row to continue his brilliant start to the campaign.
