Emilio Nava vs Ignacio Buse prediction
Emilio Nava attempted to qualify for the Eastbourne Open last week but fell to a three set loss to Hamish Stewart, despite taking the lead. He has reached two Challenger Tour finals this season, winning one of them. His best ATP result was a quarter-final appearance in Santiago. Nava is ranked inside the top 90 in the world.
He will play Ignacio Buse in round one, with the Peruvian seeded at a major for the first time in his career. The 22-year-old won his first tour-level title in Hamburg last month, defeating Tommy Paul in the final. Buse tested Andrey Rublev in the first-round of Roland Garros a few days later, losing in four sets. He competed in his first ever grass court event on the ATP Tour at Queen’s Club a fortnight ago, winning his first match against Marcos Giron but then losing to Brandon Nakashima. Buse then beat former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in the opening round of the Mallorca Championships, before a loss to Vit Kopriva.
There are signs that Buse is becoming more comfortable on grass, and he will start as a slight favourite against Nava.
