Elvina Kalieva vs Oleksandra Oliynykova prediction
Elvina Kalieva impressed at the Memphis Classic last month as she defeated the likes of Zeynep Sonmez and Peyton Stearns to reach the semi-finals. However, she would fall to defeat against 16-year-old Kristina Liutova in the last four. Kalieva then dropped down to compete on the ITF circuit in Landisville, but she suffered a surprising defeat in the first-round to Katrina Scott in straight sets.
Kaleva now begins her campaign at the Cincinnati Open against Oleksandra Oliynykova. She lost her first-round match in Toronto last time out against former world number one Karolina Pliskova. Oliynykova reached her highest ranking of 44 in the world last month.
Despite some impressive results, which have included two tour-level semi-final appearances, Oliynykova is yet to record a win on outdoor hard courts this season. Kalieva is capable of troubling opponents on this surface, and this represents an excellent opportunity for her to claim a WTA 1000 main draw victory.
