Maria Sakkari has pedigree at Roland-Garros, having reached the semi-final back in 2021. But more recently, the Greek star is coming off the back of consecutive first round exits, so she’ll be hoping for significantly better fortunes in 2025. If that’s to happen though, Sakkari will need to play better than what we’ve seen from her of late.

Elsa Jacquemont will have the benefit of a home crowd behind her, which can always prove a big factor in driving local players on, especially in Grand Slams like the French Open. She failed to qualify for the main draw in Madrid, whilst Sakkari made the round of 16 in the same tournament but a strong start for Jacquemot could rattle Sakkari.
