Ella Seidel vs Varvara Gracheva prediction

Ella Seidel continued her fine run at the Cincinnati Open with a dramatic three set victory against McCartney Kessler. Seidel was 4-2 down in the first set but reeled off four straight games to take the lead but Kessler dominated the second to draw level. The American went an early break up but Seidel responded, with the match going to a deciding tiebreak. Seidel was 6-4 down in the breaker but saved two match points and won four points in a row to seal a 6-4 2-6 7-6 win. The 20-year-old now has two top 50 wins this week and is in the round-of-16 of a Masters event for the first time.

She will face Varvara Gracheva next after she produced a brilliant display to defeat 2023 finalist Karolina Muchova in straight sets. There are 91 places separating these two in the world rankings, but Gracheva was in control for most of the match as she won 6-2 6-4 after an hour and 21 minutes. 

Both qualifiers have enjoyed fabulous runs in Cincinnati so far and picked up some fine scalps along the way. This could very well head to a decider.
