Elise Mertens vs Ekaterina Alexandrova prediction

Elise Mertens raced to a comfortable straight sets win over Yue Yuan and is into the semi-finals of the Libema Open. She made a blistering start and maintained her level throughout, defeating her opponent 6-0 6-4. She’s into the last four of an event for the first time since her victory at the Singapore Open in early February.

She takes on Ekaterina Alexandrova after she beat Veronika Kudermetova for the third time at the event. The Russian recovered from going a set down to win 5-7 6-4 6-2. She’s now just two matches away from lifting this title for a third time and will fancy her chances after coming through a tough match in the last eight. 

Alexandrova leads the head-to-head 3-1 and 1-0 on grass. They played each other in the first-round of this event in 2019, with the Russian defeating Mertens in straight sets. She also came out on top when the played each other earlier this year in Qatar.

The Belgian has played well this week and is likely to push Alexandrova all the way but we lean towards the two-time winner making yet another final in Rosmalen.
