Eliot Spizzirri vs Fabian Marozsan prediction
Eliot Spizzirri picked up an impressive win in the round-of-16 as he defeated Nuno Borges in straight sets. The American was broken when serving for the first set but staged a fine comeback in the tiebreak as he saved a set point and reeled off three points in a row to edge in front. Spizzirri did not concede a break point in the second, going on to win 7-6 (6) 6-4 after one hour and 38 minutes. He has not dropped a set in his four matches so far, including the qualifying rounds.
He takes on Fabian Marozsan in the next round after he pulled off an upset by beating former world number two and three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud in straight sets. Ruud was far from his best, but it was still a solid display from the Hungarian, who won 6-4 6-4 and conceded just the one break point.
Spizzirri should not be counted out, especially with the way he has been playing this week, but Marozsan will take a lot of confidence from beating someone of Ruud’s calibre and deservedly starts as the favourite.
