Two-time champion Elina Svitolina has her eyes set on a third Dubai title after outlasting Coco Gauff in an epic semi-final duel.
The 2017 and 2018 winner of the tournament claimed a hard-fought 6-4 6-7 6-4 win over the American third seed to move to 15-2 for the season.
The Ukrainian will now meet another player in supreme, consistent form in the shape of Jessica Pegula, who came from a set down to defeat second seed Amanda Anisimova 1-6 6-4 6-3.
This will be their ninth meeting with Jpeg leading 5-3 in the head-to-head, although Svitolina clinched a 5-7 6-1 6-2 success in their most recent battle at Indian Wells last year.
This is a hard call given how well both players are performing at present. Elina is dripping with resilience and has similar counter-punching qualities to Jess, who may have an edge in terms of having more left in the tank at this stage of the week.
The pick would be Pegula if you want to go with an outright winner, but five of their eight meetings so far have gone the distance and that seems like a good bet given they are both excellent at wrestling back momentum.
