Elina Svitolina vs Hanyu Guo prediction

Elina Svitolina has all but secured her place at the WTA Finals next month after beating Liudmila Samsonova in her second-round match at the Wuhan Open. This will be the Ukrainian’s first appearance at the end of year tournament since 2019, having also won the event in 2018. Svitolina dug deep to get past Samsonova, struggling on serve at times but coming through to win 6-2 5-7 6-2. She has won two titles this season, in Auckland and Rome.

She now faces Hanyu Guo. The Chinese player continued her run at this event after a win over Katie Volynets. The match went all the way to a deciding set tiebreak, with Guo winning 6-4 4-6 7-6 (3). She came from a set down to win against Sorana Cirstea in her opening match.

Svitolina has been very consistent this season, and she will be a heavy favourite to progress to yet another quarter-final in 2026.
