Elina Svitolina vs Anastasia Potapova prediction
Elina Svitolina overcame a scare in her opening match at the Canadian Open as she recovered from a set and a break down to beat Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. Svitolina fell behind after losing the first set on a tiebreak, but she fought back to level the match in the second. The Ukrainian closed the match out to win 6-7 (5) 7-6 (4) 6-4. Svitolina has enjoyed a strong season, with titles in Rome and Auckland, along with a semi-final appearance at the Australian Open and a run to the last eight at Roland Garros, but her performances have been less convincing over the last month.
She will now face Anastasia Potapova for a place in the round-of-16. Potapova beat Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the previous round. She saved eight out of nine break points in total as she won 6-4 6-2.
Svitolina leads the head-to-head 1-0 after defeating Potapova easily in Monterrey four years ago. The 2017 Canadian Open champion is the favourite to win, but Potapova certainly has the weapons to keep Svitolina under constant pressure.
