Elena Rybakina vs Jaqueline Cristian prediction

Elena Rybakina was in impressive form in her opening match as she won 6-4 6-3 against Hailey Baptiste, firing down 11 aces in the process.

The Kazakh star was dominant on her serve and remarkably effective on the two break points she generated herself and she took both which ultimately led her to the victory.

The ninth-seed now takes on Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian for a place in the round of 16 and it will not be easy. They have met twice before with both players winning a match apiece and this promises to be another close and competitive affair.

Cristian comes off beating another seed in number 20 Linda Noskova in the second round and that will give her plenty of confidence ahead of this one.

The big test will come down to whether she can get to grips with Rybakina’s serve but we like the early signs from the Kazakh. She served well in her opening match and assuming that does not decline significantly, we expect her to have enough to edge a match that could easily go all three sets.
