Elena Rybakina vs Iga Swiatek prediction

Elena Rybakina produced her best performance of the year as she dumped world number one and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka out of the Cincinnati Open in the quarter-finals. Rybakina made a fast start and maintained her level throughout to win 6-1 6-4. She served extremely well, as she powered down 11 aces, won 81% of her first serve points and was not broken during the entire match.

She now goes up against six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals. Swiatek booked her place in the last four with a routine win over Anna Kalinskaya. The Pole had lost the only previous meeting between the pair but was largely untroubled as she won 83% of her points on first serve and defeated the Russian 6-3 6-4.

Swiatek leads the head-to-head 5-4 and 3-2 on outdoor hard court. She has also won their three most recent encounters, with the last occurring just two months ago at the French Open. Nevertheless, Rybakina has followed up her semi-final appearance in Montreal with another strong showing here and is likely to put pressure on Swiatek, especially if her serve continues to fire. This could be a very tight match which is decided by a third set.
