Elena Rybakina stretched her winning streak in Rome to seven matches with a 7-6 6-2 win over Eva Lys.

The 11th seed was playing her first match in the Italian capital since lifting the title here in 2023 and soon found her rhythm to down the German. 

Rybakina now has a 12-3 record in Rome and leads Bianca Andreescu 3-0 in the head-to-head. Indeed, the Kazakhstani won their most recent encounter 6-3 6-2 in Madrid last month.

Andreescu impressively defeated Olympic silver medallist Donna Vekic 6-1 3-6 6-2 in the second round, but her game doesn’t match up well with Rybakina’s power and it’s unlikely the Canadian will come out on top at the fourth time of asking.
