Elena-Gabriela Ruse vs Madison Keys prediction

World number 58 Elena-Gabriela Ruse has progressed beyond the first round of every Grand Slam except Wimbledon, with her previous four appearances in the main draw in London seeing her crash out at the first hurdle.

However, a run to the final of the Libema Open a couple of weeks ago showed that she can perform to a high level on grass, and she will hope to take the confidence gained from that showing in the Netherlands to the courts of SW19.

The Romanian has been drawn against sixth seed Madison Keys though, who has twice been a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon.

The American tends to favour both clay and hard courts, but having won her maiden Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January and followed it with a run to the last eight in Roland Garros, will be expecting go deep here.

Keys is a class above her opponent and is likely to progress in straight sets.
