Elena-Gabriela Ruse made it through to the next stage at the Bad Homburg Open after a comfortable win over Linda Noskova in the first-round. Noskova was competing at the event despite winning the German Open title just two days earlier, and she was below par as Ruse wrapped up a 6-1 6-3 win. She fired 13 aces on her way to victory and faced just two break points overall.
Ruse will now play Anna Kalinskaya. The Russian defeated Sinja Kraus in straight sets. Kalinskaya comfortably led after the first set and reeled off the final six games of the match to seal a 6-4 6-1 victory. She reached the quarter-finals of Roland Garros earlier this month.
