Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Victoria Mboko prediction
Ekaterina Alexandrova’s fine season suffered a blip last time out as she was defeated in the second-round of the China Open. The Russian faced two-time Grand Slam singles champion Barbora Krejcikova, but lost in straight sets. Alexandrova won the Linz Open in February and also reached two other finals in Monterrey and Seoul, along with another four semi-finals.
Victoria Mboko has been unable to get going since her stunning victory at the Canadian Open in August. She has competed in just two tournaments since then and has lost her two opening matches. At the US Open she was defeated by Krejcikova and the Canadian then lost to Anastasia Potapova in Beijing. Mboko will want to end her breakthrough season strongly, with the 19-year-old up to 23 in the world.
Mboko is a huge talent but the experience and consistency of Alexandrova may just give her the edge.
