Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Sofia Kenin prediction
Ekaterina Alexandrova began her campaign in dominant fashion as she crushed Jaqueline Cristian in straight sets. The Russian was not broken on serve and conceded just one break point as she won 6-1 6-2 after just an hour and nine minutes. Alexandrova reached the top 10 of the world rankings for the first time earlier this month and is now into her 11th quarter-final of the season.
Sofia Kenin is her next opponent. Kenin was not at her best but still managed to record back-to-back wins at a tournament for the first time since Roland Garros after beating Wakana Sonobe in three sets. Sonobe, the home favourite and the junior Australian Open champion, made a fast start and took the first set. Kenin dominated the second but was still forced into saving four breaks points in a third set which went on serve. The American squandered two match points in the 10th game but dominated the tiebreak to win 3-6 6-1 7-6.
Alexandrova has been the far stronger player this season and will be a commanding favourite to defeat Kenin.
