Ekaterina Alexandrova made short work of Yue Yuan to set up a last eight encounter with Mccartney Kessler.

The Russian continued her rich vein of form that has finally seen her crack the top ten with a 6-3 6-3 success over the Chinese underdog.

The fourth seed now locks horns with an in-form Kessler, who followed a crushing victory over Sofia Kenin with a 7-6 6-1 upset of eighth seed Liudmila Samsonova. 

The American world number 33 will have real belief given her form of late, but Alexandrova has been equally impressive over recent months and a high-class exchange should go the Russian’s way in what could go three.
