Ekaterina Alexandrova is the 12th-seed in Cincinnati this week but the third round already represents her best-ever finish in the tournament. After being eliminated in her opening match in Montreal last time out, her win against Lulu Sun will have given her a much-needed confidence boost last time out and now she takes on in-form Australian talent Maya Joint.
The 19-year-old is revelling this breakout year and she showed great determination and character in battling to a three-set win over 18th-seed Beatriz Haddad Maia. That came after a straight-sets win over Greet Minnen and she is looking sharp once again.
The pair have never met before and this is a really interesting match-up. All the momentum is with Joint and we love the value on her as the underdog in this one.
