Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Leylah Fernandez prediction

Ekaterina Alexandrova produced a positive showing in Beijing, advancing to her second WTA quarter-final of the season. The Russian defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Diana Shnaider and Linda Noskova to reach the last eight, before a loss to compatriot Mirra Andreeva. It’s been a tough season for Alexandrova, compared to her consistent 2025, but there have been more encouraging signs over the past two months.

She will face Leylah Fernandez in the first-round of the Wuhan Open. The Canadian suffered an early exit at the China Open last week, losing to Kamilla Rakhimova. However, just a few days earlier, Fernandez had wrapped up her first title of the season after a win over Talia Gibson in the Singapore Open final. She also defeated Andreeva on her way to the title.

Alexandrova leads the head-to-head 3-1 and has won their last three meetings. She may just have a bit too much firepower for her opponent.
