Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Diana Shnaider prediction
Ekaterina Alexandrova put an end to her three-match losing streak in singles with an easy 6-3 6-0 win over Ann Li, winning nearly 80% of points on her first serve. She also created a number of break point opportunities for herself, though only converted five of a possible 16, which highlights how the result could have been even more comfortable for the ninth seed.
Diana Shanider will be a far tougher test however, and she enjoyed a comfortable win of her own in the second round, dropping just five games in total to defeat Polina Kudermetova 6-3 6-2.
These two have never played each other before, and neither were in particularly good form heading into the event so this is a tough match to call. Alexandrova is a previous semi-finalist at the event, while Shnaider has already shown how good she can be on clay in her young career with silver in the doubles at the Paris Olympics and a win at the Budapest Grand Prix last season.
