Donna Vekic vs Lin Zhu prediction

Donna Vekic is the 30th seed at the China Open. Her Asian swing began in Singapore last week, though she lost her opening match to Xinyu Wang. Vekic was uncompetitive throughout the encounter, losing 6-1 6-2. Her highlight of the season was a title at Queen’s Club, where she beat Emma Raducanu in the final. However, she has since lost seven of her last eight matches.

Vekic received a bye in round one and now faces Lin Zhu. The Chinese player produced a fine performance to defeat Alycia Parks in her opening match in Beijing. She only conceded the one break point, winning 6-4 6-2 after one hour and 15 minutes.

Vekic leads the head-to-head 3-0, but her form is a cause for concern at the moment, and Zhu will have home support on her side for this one. This has the makings of a competitive encounter, despite the sizeable ranking difference between the pair.
