Donna Vekic vs Jana Fett prediction

Olympic silver medallist Donna Vekic will hope a return to the clay will inspire a change in fortunes.

The world number 20 has struggled of late with six defeats from her last eight matches and will be disappointed not to have built upon what was right up there as the best year of her career in 2024.

Her first match of the season on clay pits her against qualifier Jana Fett as Croatia’s number one meets the country’s number four.

This will be their first encounter with Fett’s focus largely on the smaller tournaments on the tour. The world number 153 did show resilience in qualifying, coming through the final round 6-7 7-6 7-6 against Rebeka Masarova to reach the main draw.

Interestingly, Masarova was the last player to beat Vekic quite convincingly in Miami but with national bragging rights on the line the nod has to go to Croatia’s top star to set up a mouthwatering clash with Swiatek in the second round.
