Diane Parry is now on a six-match winning streak as she beat Viktorija Golubic in straight sets at the US Open. The Frenchwoman claimed her maiden WTA Tour title at the Monterrey Open as she beat Clara Tauson and Ann Li, before overcoming Elise Mertens in the final. Less than 48 hours later, Parry was back on court at Flushing Meadows, winning 7-5 6-4 against Golubic. She has now won 22 of her last 30 matches in total.

Sorana Cirstea is her next opponent. The Romanian, who is set to retire at the end of the season, enjoyed one of the most dominant victories of the first-round as she thrashed Julia Grabher. Cirstea required only 89 minutes to win 6-3 6-0.

Cirstea’s ability to take the ball early and generate greater pace should test Parry, but the Frenchwoman’s variety and current form make her a very dangerous opponent for the veteran. This has the makings of a very competitive second-round encounter.
