Diane Parry’s losing run extended to three matches at the Cincinnati Open as she was beaten in the first-round by Kayla Day. Parry had taken the opening set, but Day fought back to win 3-6 6-3 7-5. The highlight of her campaign so far was her a WTA 125 title in Paris, along with a run to the round-of-16 of Roland Garros a week later. She also advanced to the semi-finals of the Ostrava Open, but her recent run has been less encouraging.
She faces Caroline Dolehide in the first-round. The American picked up her first title since 2023 last month as she won the Deaconess Women’s Tennis Classic in Evansville. She has struggled with injuries for quite some time, and that has resulted in her ranking dropping to outside the world’s top 200.
Dolehide can still be a dangerous opponent when healthy, especially on a hard court, but Parry remains the favourite to get through.
