Diana Shnaider vs Magdalena Frech prediction

Diana Shnaider fell to an early defeat at the French Open as she lost to Dayana Yastremska in straights sets in the second-round. The Russian did not have the best of clay court seasons in singles, with her best event being a quarter-final appearance at the Italian Open. The 21-year-old is yet to make the last four of a tournament in this campaign.

She will hope for an upturn in fortunes on grass and begins her campaign at Queen’s with a match against Magdalena Frech. The Pole also fell in the second-round at Roland Garros, losing to Marteka Vondrousova in three sets. Frech has endured a difficult first part of the season and has struggled to make a key breakthrough in any of the tournaments she’s competed in.

This will be their first match on grass, but they’ve played each other on three previous occasions, with Shnaider leading 2-1. They have already competed against each other earlier in the season, with the Russian defeating Frech 6-2 6-2 in the first-round of the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Neither player is in the best of form but we expect Shnaider to come out on top.
