Diana Shnaider vs Iga Swiatek prediction
Diana Shnaider continued her excellent form as she reached the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open following a straight sets win over world number three Jessica Pegula. The Russian had lost to Pegula at the Washington Open last week, but she exacted revenge with a 6-3 6-3 win. This is now her best result at a WTA 1000 event this season.
She faces former world number one Iga Swiatek next. Swiatek came from a set down to beat Marta Kostyuk in the previous round. The Pole won just one point on serve in the first set as Kostyuk took control, but she responded brilliantly to win 3-6 6-1 6-2 after two hours and 10 minutes.
These two played each other for the first time at the Madrid Open last year, with Swiatek winning in three sets. She will be the favourite to come out on top again, but Shnaider is playing some of her best tennis of the season and has the firepower to dictate the rallies at times.
