Diana Shnaider sent a warning sign to all of her rivals left in the tournament as she stormed to a 6-0 6-0 win over Anastasija Sevastova. It was complete domination from the Russian, who won consecutive singles matches at a tournament for the first time since making the third-round of the Australian Open in January.
After surviving yet another scare against Alexandra Eala, Iga Swiatek had a far more comfortable match against Linda Noskova, winning 6-4 6-2. It was a close first set which the world number two managed to take and there was more fluency and rhythm in her game in the second. She was clinical on her return game, taking all four break points on offer and it was also a fine serving performance with zero double faults and four aces.
Swiatek will need to raise her game once more against Shnaider, who must be full of confidence after such a crushing victory. We think she will do exactly that and make it through to the quarter-finals with a win in straight sets.
