Ekaterina Alexandrova continues to fly in 2025 after reaching her eighth semi-final of the year.
The Russian claimed a rock-solid 6-3 6-3 victory over Mccartney Kessler to notch her 45th tour win of the season.
The fourth seed will now meet Diana Shnaider in an all-Russian shoot-out to reach the final after the seventh seed came from behind to prevail 2-6 6-3 6-1 and end Chinese hopes in the shape of Lin Zhu.
This will be a third meeting between the two with honours even at a win apiece. Alexandrova eased to a 6-2 6-1 victory on the clay of Charleston back in April while Shnaider won the final on the hardcourts of Monterrey by a 6-3 4-6 6-4 scoreline in August.
Both players have the weapons to do real damage and while the overall momentum feels like it’s with Alexandrova this time, there may be better value in taking a punt on it going the distance.
