Diana Shnaider vs Dayana Yastremska prediction

Diana Shnaider enjoyed a much-needed boost as she got through to the semi-finals in Ningbo. The Russian had lost her three previous matches leading up to it but managed to record three successive victories of her own before a defeat to Ekaterina Alexandrova. That was her second-best result on the tour this season, following her title win in Monterrey two months ago. Shnaider will look to continue her upturn in form with a deep run in Tokyo.

Dayana Yastremska is her first-round opponent. The Ukrainian has lost five of her last six matches. She did win her first-round match in Ningbo with a first-round victory over Canadian Open champion Victoria Mboko. However, she would then go on to lose to Elena Rybakina despite a close three match, with Rybakina going on to win the tournament. 

Yastremska can still be a tough opponent, but Shnaider will start this match as the favourite and is more likely to win this one.
