Destanee Aiava was a first round exit at the US Open last year but did reach the second round of the Australian Open earlier in 2025. Theoretically, the hard courts of Flushing Meadows should suit her game, which is based largely on power, but inconsistency lets her down and as she tires late in matches, errors can creep in.
Jasmine Paolini has been impressive this year and is a two-time Grand Slam finalist. However, she has yet to advance past the fourth round in Queens, although the expectation is that this is likely to change in 2025 when taking into account how well she has played. Paolini is starting to click on the hard court surface which has been an issue in the past and the Italian is well worth backing to defeat Aiava.
