Denis Shapovalov vs Pablo Carreno Busta prediction

Denis Shapovalov is a former Wimbledon semi-finalist, but that run occurred five years ago and his form heading into the third major of the year is far from inspiring. The Canadian was two points away from defeat to Jack Pinnington Jones on the opening day of Queen’s Club before recovering to win, but he was then dismantled by Alex de Minaur in the second-round. He also lost to Marin Cilic in the first-round of the Libema Open. Overall, Shapovalov has lost 13 of his 22 matches in 2026 and has not advanced to a semi-final since the Dallas Open in February.

He plays Pablo Carreno Busta in the first-round. The Spaniard has not competed since his brilliant run to the round-of-16 at Roland Garros. He was two sets up against Rafael Jodar and on course for a third quarter-final appearance at the French Open, but the youngster would fight back to win.

Carreno Busta leads the head-to-head 6-2, but this will be their first meeting on grass. The 34-year-old beat Shapovalov earlier this year in Dubai. If he can extend the rallies and force errors from the Canadian, he could quite easily extend this match to a fourth or fifth set.

Denis Shapovalov vs Pablo Carreno Busta tip: Over 3.5 sets
