Denis Shapovalov continued his unbeaten streak at the Los Cabos Open as he beat Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez to reach the quarter-finals. The Canadian did not concede a break point and won 90% of his points on first serve as he wrapped up a 6-3 6-2 victory after just one hour and seven minutes. The defending champion has now won seven straight matches at the event, and he’s into the last eight of an ATP tournament for the third time this season.
He will play Dalibor Svrcina for a place in the semi-fnals. Svrcina advanced after second seed Luciano Darderi retired in the early stages of their match. He was leading 3-0. The Czech is through to his first tour-level quarter-final of the campaign.
Svrcina has the consistency to make this competitive, but Shapovalov’s ability to hit through these conditions make him a firm favourite to reach the semi-finals at Los Cabos once again.
