A composed deciding set from Shapovalov saw him not even concede a break point as he won 5-7 6-4 6-3.
He now takes on Ben Shelton. He also recovered from a first set deficit to win against Miomir Kecmanovic. Shelton went behind but did not even face a break point in sets two and three as he won 5-7 6-3 6-4. He won 94% of his first serve points overall.
Shelton leads the head-to-head 3-0 and starts as the favourite. However, Shapovalov is on an eight-match winning run at the event and will be a difficult task to overcome. This is likely to be dominated by the serving performances of both players and could go all the way to a deciding set.
