Denis Shapovalov vs Aleksandar Kovacevic prediction

Defending champion Denis Shapovalov advanced to the next stage in Dallas after cruising to a straight sets win over Spanish qualifier Rafael Jodar. Shapovalov won 11 straight games in a row at one stage as he won 6-1 6-2 after just one hour and nine minutes.

He now goes up against Aleksandar Kovacevic. The American won his first-round match against compatriot Patrick Kypson in straight sets. Kypson entered the main draw as a lucky loser following Reilly Opelka’s withdrawal and while he was competitive, Kovacevic was always in control as he wrapped up a 6-4 7-6 (1) win.

This will be the second meeting between the pair. They faced each other last summer, with Shapovalov comfortably defeating Kovacevic 6-4 6-2 in the final of the Los Cabos Open. The Canadian enjoys these fast court conditions, which maximise the strengths in his offensive game, and he will be the clear favourite to continue the defence of his title with a victory here.
