Denis Shapovalov continued his fine form with the win over Marcos Giron in the quarters on Thursday. It was not plain sailing as Giron won the first set but Shapovalov bounced back nicely and took control of match winning out 4-6 6-3 6-2.

Shapovalov is enjoying a really rich vein of form right now and his confidence is clearly high. He now faces a different stylistic match-up against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina after playing three Americans in succession.

Davidovich Fokina was comfortable in his quarter-final as he eased past Mexican wildcard Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez 6-2 6-2. That may help him coming into this one as he should be relatively fresh.

The pair have met once before and that came back in 2022 at Indian Wells as Shapovalov won that 4-6 6-4 6-2.

We have a marginal preference for the Canadian but we cannot write off Davidovich Fokina. He too is playing really well these last few weeks and this really is a match that could go either way.
