Dayana Yastremska held her nerve in a tense tie-break decider to tee up an all-Ukrainian tussle with Elina Svitolina.

The world number 42 edged Cristina Bucsa 6-4 4-6 7-6 and will now meet her compatriot for just the second time. 

Svitolina has been in sensational form this year, winning the Auckland title and reaching the last four at the Australian Open. 

The seventh seed is back inside the top ten for the first time since becoming a mother and is playing as well as ever.

The 31-year-old former world number three won their only previous encounter 6-2 6-0 at the 2019 US Open and while it’s unlikely to be as one-sided as that, form and pride is highly likely to be key factors for Elina to continue her red-hot start 2026.
