Dayana Yastremska vs Cristina Bucsa prediction

Dayana Yastremska matched her best WTA result of the season as she advanced to the third-round at the China Open. The Ukrainian defeated Caty McNally and Maja Chwalinksa in straight sets, before a loss to Sinja Kraus. It’s still been a very disappointing season for Yastremska overall, but she will hope for another encouraging showing at the final WTA 1000 event of the campaign.

Her first-round opponent is Cristina Bucsa. The Spaniard suffered a surprise opening round defeat to Sun Xinran in Beijing. Bucsa’s form had picked up last month, following a third-round appearance at the US Open and a run to the last four in Guadalajara. Her highlight of the season was a first tour-level title of her career in Merida.

Yastremska leads the head-to-head 3-0 and won their last match in Doha earlier this year in three sets. Bucsa has produced the stronger results this season, but Yastremska’s recent improvement and favourable head-to-head make this difficult to call.
