Dayana Yastremska vs Alexandra Eala prediction
Dayana Yastremksa made it through to the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne Open with a dominant 6-1 6-2 win over Great Britain’s Francesca Jones. Yastremska took all six of her break point opportunities and and is yet to drop a set at this year’s tournament. She now has six wins from her seven matches on grass this season, having made the final of the Nottingham Open last week.
She faces Alexandra Eala next. Eala advanced through after 2021 champion Jelena Ostapenko was forced to retire in the third set. Ostapenko had taken the first 6-0 but Eala replied by taking the second 6-2 and was 3-2 up in the decider when the Latvian decided to call it quits due a foot injury.
Eala has broken new ground this week by making her first ever quarter-final on a grass court, but her deficiencies on the surface were exposed by Ostapenko in that first set. Yastremska’s game seems to be in fine order on the grass and she will be expected to make it through.
