It appears that Michael Smith’s run to the final on both Night 5 and Night 6 was the exception rather than the norm as he has since bowed out at the first hurdle in the last two weeks, and any further quarter-final exits will make it very difficult for him to force his way into the playoffs. Peter Wright is having no such trouble, and it was only an inspired Jonny Clayton that was able to stop him last week.
