Gerwyn Price was forced to dig deep to see off the challenge of Brendan Dolan in a round three tussle which went all the way to the deciding leg in the seventh set and the Welshman looks set to be embroiled in another epic encounter here against an in-form Mervyn King. The King’s run to the final at last month’s Players Championship Finals certainly boosted his confidence heading into the World Championship and he has progressed through to this stage of the tournament courtesy of a couple of very impressive performances against Max Hopp and Jose de Sousa. His display against Grand Slam champion De Sousa in the last 32 was particularly eye-catching as he cruised through in straight sets with an average of 103.47.
