Ross Smith returns to Alexendra Palace looking for a big improvement on his showing 12 months ago when he lost 3-0 in round one against Ciaran Teehan. A first round tie against David Evans represents a very tricky obstacle for the man from Kent though. Evans has won twice on the PDC Challenge Tour this year and he will be keen to make his mark in his first appearance at the PDC World Championship after reaching the quarter-finals at the BDO World Championship back in January.
