Darja Vidmanova vs Katie Volynets prediction

Darja Vidmanova ended Sloane Stephens’ bid to build upon a rare win to comfortably book a spot in the last eight.

The Czech eased to a 6-2 6-4 victory over the wildcard and will now meet another American in the shape of Katie Volynets, who saw off qualifier Iryna Shymanovich 6-4 6-2.

This will be their maiden tussle and although world number 93 Volynets is only 21 places better on the rankings, she’s got greater pedigree in terms of main draw wins. Throw in the fact she took down the third seed in the first round and is competing on home turf and she seems like the obvious pick.
