Daria Snigur comes into this one on the back of an impressive and battling three-set defeat of number 21 seed Clara Tauson. Snigur has enjoyed a reasonably positive clay season, making it through to the second round of the Madrid Open after qualifying, only to lose to the excellent Iga Swiatek.
Peyton Stearns enjoyed a more straightforward opening round win as the 24-year-old American defeated her compatriot Sofia Kenin 6-3, 6-3 the other day. Stearns hasn’t put together back-to-back wins since coming out on top to win the ATX Open in Austin back in late-February and early-March.
Stearns will believe that can be put to bed in Paris but Snigur showed real resilience the other day and it is unlikely to be too easy for the American in the second round.
