Daria Snigur vs Diana Shnaider prediction

Daria Snigur advanced to her first WTA Tour final last month at the Prague Open, but she was unable to win the title after a defeat to Lilli Tagger. The Ukrainian has competed in just one event since – winning her first-round match at the Cincinnati Open against compatriot Yuliia Starodubtseva and then taking the first set in her next encounter against 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys. However, Keys would fight back to win in three. Snigur has also picked up two lower-level titles in 2026.

She faces Diana Shnaider in round one. The Russian has been one of the most consistent players of the last month, as she reached the semi-finals of the Washington Open, the last eight in Toronto, and the round-of-16 in Cincinnati. 

Shnaider’s great power and heavier left-handed game should give her the upper hand, and she has enjoyed an excellent build-up to the final slam of the year. Snigur is not the most straightforward of opening round matches, but it’s difficult to look past the 22-year-old.
