Daria Kasatkina ended her clay court campaign with a decent run to the fourth-round of the French Open. She beat Paula Badosa in round three but then came unstuck against Mirra Andreeva, losing 6-3 7-5. This was still an encouraging display from the Russian-born Australian after early exits in Strasbourg, Madrid and Rome leading up to the second Grand Slam of the season.
She begins her grass court season against Great Britain’s Sonay Kartal. Kartal broke new ground in Paris as she won on her French Open debut with a win against Erika Andreeva. She would go on to lose in the next round to Marie Bouzkova. She now returns to the grass after a successful run in 2024, as she became just the second British woman in the Open Era to reach the third-round of Wimbledon as a qualifier.
