Daria Kasatkina vs Lulu Sun prediction

Daria Kasatkina enters the tournament as the top seed but has not got off to a good start on grass this season. She suffered a surprising defeat in the first-round of Queen’s Club to home favourite Sonay Kartal. Kasatkina would have hoped for an improvement at the German Open but also suffered an early loss there as Wang Xinyu defeated her in straight sets.

However, Kasatkina does have a strong recent record at this event, having reached the final twice in consecutive years and she is the defending champion following her success against Leylah Fernandez in 2024. Lulu Sun is her opponent and the New Zealander has already proven her capabilities on this surface with a run to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last year.

However, her start to this grass court season has been an indifferent one as she lost early on in Nottingham last week and only made the second-round of the Libema Open before a heavy defeat to former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu.

Kasatkina is not in good form but she’s returning to an event that has served her well in recent times. We expect a much improved display and a first win on grass this year.
