Daniil Medvedev vs Valentin Royer prediction

Daniil Medvedev failed to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open last time out, as he was beaten by Frances Tiafoe. The 2021 champion served for the first set and had a set point in the third, but Tiafoe produced his best level during the big moments to win in straight sets. Medvedev’s form has been poor for quite some time, despite beginning the season with titles in Brisbane and Dubai, along with a run to the final of Indian Wells. He is the top seed at this event. 

He was handed a bye in the first-round and now faces 2025 finalist Valentin Royer. The Frenchman produced a strong performance to beat Adam Walton. Royer was not broken on serve and fired 14 aces in total, winning 6-3 6-4.

Royer has a very impressive record at this event in terms of wins, but Medvedev will be viewed as the clear favourite to come through this one, as he aims for a third title of the campaign.
